Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know before you place your first bid.
How does the leaderboard work?
Every product on the board has a cumulative bid — the total amount paid to be ranked. The higher your cumulative bid, the higher your rank. Your bid IS your rank. No algorithms, no votes, no editorial discretion.
What happens when someone outbids me?
Your rank drops immediately. If you provided an email, we notify you with the exact amount needed to reclaim your spot. You can re-bid any time from your product page or the leaderboard.
Are bids refundable?
No. Bids are final. You are paying for a position on a public leaderboard — that position is yours until someone else pays more. Think of it as advertising, not a deposit.
How do I get on the board?
Submit your product URL, pick a category, and place a bid. Payments are processed securely through Dodo Payments. Once payment is confirmed, your listing is live and ranked instantly.
What payment methods are accepted?
We accept all major credit cards through Dodo Payments. No cryptocurrency, no wire transfers, no invoicing — just card payments for instant activation.
Is there a minimum bid?
Yes. The minimum bid is $5. This keeps the board accessible to indie hackers and small projects. Some categories may have higher entry costs as competition increases.
Can I list anything?
You can list websites, GitHub repos, X (Twitter) handles, and app store links. We block shorteners, invite links, and NSFW content. All listings are reviewed automatically.
What are categories?
Categories are arenas. Each category has its own leaderboard, so you only compete with products in your space. Taking #1 in a niche category might cost $5, while #1 in a hot category could cost hundreds.
What are seasons?
The board resets periodically. Each season starts fresh — new rankings, new competition. Winners from previous seasons get bragging rights, but everyone starts at $0 in the new season.
How do clicks work?
When someone clicks the 'Visit' button on your listing, they are redirected through our click tracker. We count unique clicks (deduplicated by IP and user agent within 60 seconds). This gives you real traffic data.
Is this just a copy of outbid.lol?
The core mechanic — paying for rank — is the same idea that exists across many products (Reddit ads, Product Hunt upvotes, etc). We differentiate with categories, seasons, battles, and a cleaner developer-focused experience. Competition is good for users.
Still have questions?
The best way to understand it is to try it. Submit a product, place a small bid, and watch your rank appear in seconds.
